A Whimsical Meridian Hills Engagement Session

JP & Noelle

Some engagement sessions feel beautiful, some feel romantic, and then there are the ones that feel like you somehow stepped straight into a movie.

Noelle and JP’s engagement session was exactly that.

I had the absolute joy of photographing these two in Meridian Hills, Indiana, beginning our evening at Holliday Park before making our way to Holcomb Gardens on Butler University’s campus. Between the beautiful scenery, the soft and romantic moments, and the undeniable sweetness between these two, the entire session felt whimsical in the very best way.

But what made this session even more special to me was getting to photograph a friend.

Noelle and I go back to our college days, so being able to capture this season of her life felt incredibly special.

Their relationship has such a wholesome, genuine quality to it. They laugh together, naturally fall into one another, and have this quiet sweetness that doesn't need to be forced or posed. As I photographed them throughout the evening, it felt like I was simply capturing little moments from their own love story.

The kind of moments that make you feel like you're watching a scene unfold in a movie.

Holliday Park gave us the perfect beginning to the evening, with its natural beauty creating a romantic and almost storybook-like setting. As we wandered through the park, Noelle and JP were completely up for embracing the prompts and simply enjoying being together. The movement, laughter, and in-between moments created some of my favorite images from the session.

Then, we headed to Holcomb Gardens on Butler University's campus, and somehow the evening became even more magical.

There was something about the gardens, the architecture, and the way Noelle and JP interacted with one another that made the entire session feel cinematic. I kept finding myself thinking, this could be a scene from a movie. Not because everything was perfectly posed, but because it felt so natural. Like we were documenting a love story that was already unfolding beautifully on its own.

That is one of my favorite things about engagement photography.

I never want a session to feel like you are simply checking photos off a wedding planning to-do list. Your engagement is such a unique and fleeting season—a season filled with anticipation, excitement, and the joy of knowing that your forever is right around the corner. It deserves to be remembered for how it felt.

And Noelle and JP's session felt whimsical.

It felt romantic. It felt joyful. It felt soft and sweet and completely genuine. Most of all, it felt like them.

Noelle and JP, thank you for allowing me to capture this beautiful chapter in your love story. Photographing you both was such a joy, and getting to celebrate this season alongside an old college friend made it even sweeter.

If your engagement session is anything like the love you two share, I already know your wedding day is going to be absolutely beautiful. 🤍

Here’s to the kind of love that feels like your favorite movie scene—and a story that is only just beginning.

PS. glad we escaped right before the rain!!
